ACTIVITIES

We are excited to start preparing for this year's Cross Country season! If you enjoy running, being challenged, or being a part of a team please come out and join us. All races are 1 mile long.

Team Registration (Perry Hill Cross Country Registration)

• Team Registration will close on August 21st at 11:59 pm.
• Students must be in grades 3-5 to participate in Cross Country.

Practice Schedule

• Practice is after school until 3:30 pm.
• Students will meet in the Gym after changing clothes (if needed).
• Pick-up will be at the back of the building (door #7) for students in 3rd Grade and 4th Grade.
• 5th Grade students will be picked up at the main entrance (door #1).
• If you have children in multiple grades, the students will be picked up at the location of your oldest child. For example, if you have a 3rd and 5th grader you will pick up at the front entrance.
• Please have a sign with your child’s name on it hanging in the car window for dismissal. 

What is needed for practice?

• Running shoes
• Active Wear
• A water bottle
• A note from a parent stating that they will be staying after school for Cross Country practice (this must be done for every practice).

Races Information 

Parents are responsible for registration and payment for all races will be completed online.

• Parents are responsible for transportation to each race
• The link for registering will be below the race once we have the information. Please check back frequently throughout the season 

Please wear an orange shirt or any Perry Hill shirt for the races.

Race 1: Otter Classic @ Carroll Middle School Friday, September 11th, 2026 (Pre-registration discount deadline is September 8th at 10:00 am)

Race 3: Cougar Chase @ Perry Hill Elementary School Friday, September 25th, 2026 @5:00pm (Pre-registration discount deadline is September 17^th at 11:59 pm)

*Potential Race 5: Rising Eagles on the Run @ Indian Springs (Columbia City) Thursday, October 1st. (I’ll provide more info on this in the coming weeks).

Behavior Expectations

• Students will be given two strikes before they are dismissed from the team (first strike=warning, second strike=dismissal). 
• The coaches will be the judge of whether or not a situation is worthy of a strike.

Students will receive a ticket at the end of practice that will be given to the parent/guardian to make sure everyone is aware of what happened.

 

If a student goes to Y-Care after practice, students will need to take the ticket home and have it signed by the next practice. Some situations that can warrant a strike are:

• Hitting
• Kicking
• Tripping
• Pushing
• Being disrespectful to coaches or other students
• Not behaving during pickup

*Please note: The first and second strike can occur in the same practice if the actions create an immediate barrier to coaches and volunteers being able to keep every runner equally safe and supervised, or the student runner doesn’t adjust to redirection.*
